About us

The Nordic Women’s University was established in 2011 with funding from
the Norwegian Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Children,
Equality and Social Inclusion, and is hosted by Nesna University College
in Norway. The Nordic Women’s University represents a continuation of and adheres to the statutes of the previous Norwegian Women’s University, established by Berit Ås in 1983.

The objective for the Nordic Women's University is to conduct research, teaching and information about and for women, grounded in feminist values and feminist pedagogics and with particular emphasis on Nordic and international perspectives. We will focus in particular on three main areas:

1) women, work, economy and wages
2) women and reproductive work (parenthood)
3) violence against women.
